Hoover moulded in seal replacement

Step 1

Check that the seal is the correct size.

Step 2

Peel out the door seal ensuring that you pull out the entire flap and not just the lip. This will save you pulling the flap out afterwards.

Step 3

Chip away the small lip of insulation just under the outer edge of the plastic liner. Using a combination of a stanley knife to cut it, and a screwdriver to remove it seems to be a good combination for this.

If this is not removed then the new seal will not sit under the plastic liner very nicely, and will also make the job longer.

Step 4

foam removal

Push the new seal under the outer edge of the plastic liner, making sure that the lip goes in as far as possible.

If you were careful by not pulling out the seal too far, then you may have a perfectly sealing door seal now.

If there is a gap as shown in the "excessive gap" image above, you may need to use some adhesive to stick the seal in place.

Or alternatively, you can put some screws in through the plastic liner and metal frame underneath. (Some models have moulded areas in the liner for these to go in)

The adhesive recommended by the manufacturer is Bostik Polyurethan Sealant (seal n flex1) which can be purchased from a hardware shop.

Alternatives, which I have used are Loctite glues and others.

Well done.
